☠ ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE 2012 ☠
UPSTAIRS Confirmed Dead (hosted by Konkrete Jungle):
THA FRUITBAT [SAC]
Tha Fruitbat is an electronic music maker best known for his disorienting arrays of synth and sample tones, woven together atop complex breakbeats and mutated basslines. His background as a trained musician (drums, bass, guitar and percussion) and audio engineer enables Tha Fruitbat to play, sample and record his own sounds into his compositions, creating his own unique beats.
In addition to his solo work Tha Fruitbat is responsible for creating other projects with various Northern California electronic musicians. These include Hysterisis Loop, a four person live electronic outfit that has performed in many cities throughout California, in venues small and large including the DNA Lounge in San Francisco and Sacramento’s Arco Arena. And ReptilianBassStation with Ratchet, Spektrum and a revolving cast of local producers. Which will be releasing a brand new album in 2012. Another project with fellow Memekast resident Audiovoid, called "Ishimura" will be dropping later this year.
CENTURY GOT BARS [SAC]
With the confidence and the lyrical strength to put both male and females to shame, Century, the newest addition to M.L.S. has been writing, rapping and doing spoken word since the age of 15. Growing up in the “Motor City”, Detroit, Michigan, Century would find her biggest influence to pursue music would come from the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, of TLC. “When I heard her voice and her energy for the first time I wanted to be just like her. My mom wouldn't even let me have the album cause of the parental advisory so I had to pay a bum to go get it for me.”Century later moved to Washington DC to attend college at Howard University. After being scouted at an emcee battle in 2002, Century along with two other ladies, signed a 2 year production deal with Sony Music. The group later disbanded due to internal issues. By 2004, Century was ready for a new start, and moved to Atlanta, GA (the ATL , shawty!!). She recorded her first solo album, “Hip-Hop Blues” in 2006. Followed by “We 2 Flii: The Montes Family” mixtape in 2007. Century rocked the crowds at local clubs and performing on Pride tours. In 2009 she joined the group MLS (Major League Spittaz) and recorded tracks for the album "Sharpshooterz". She's performed at a host of Sacramento local shows, including opening for Zman for Auburn Hip Hop Congress, DJ Rated R's Joints and Jams and over 15 open mics. Century released the mixtape "Who Lil Boi Is This?!" in October of 2010, and is currently working on her upcoming solo project "Music4Music" to be released in early 2011.
TRIBE OF LEVI [SAC]
TRIBE OF LEVI consists of Sacramento residents POOR, NON, and MIC JORDAN. Unsatisfied with the current state of the art, these purists have taken it upon themselves to make the music they wish they were hearing. TRIBE OF LEVI strives to bring hiphop back to an era where only the best rappers became superstars, where an MC was more concerned with his craft than his image, and when it was still considered wack to bite. As members of the Sacramento-based hiphop collective TPR, the emcees of TRIBE OF LEVI have performed with numerous hiphop luminaries such as Nas, Dead Prez, KRS-ONE, Prince Poetic (Organized Konfusion), Black Sheep, Butterscotch, Zion I, Illogic, Bru Lei, Chuck Taylor, The CUF, Righteous Movement, and the Neighborhood Watch. Featuring production by Daddy Longlegs, DJ Doin' Somethin', DJ Filth, Jeremy Pearson, MahtieBush and NON (among others), their sound is raw, old-school, circa-'94 hiphop...a throwback to what many folks consider the golden age of rap music. If you like Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Souls of Mischief, MF Doom, People Under The Stairs, Shape Shifters, or Mr. Lif, you'll like the TRIBE OF LEVI.
DUSTY BROWN [SAC]
SHAUN SLAUGHTER [SAC] - D.A.M.B.
D.A.M.B. aka DJ Shaun Slaughter was raised on soul, grew into punk and eventually cast into house music in his late teens. Writing, remixing and DJing under various pseudonyms over the last 13 years he settled into his current tropical moniker D.A.M.B.. The sound comes from Shaun's love of coastal sounds, percussive instruments, bass & all things left of center.
